Teutons
Battles with Teutonic Knights
Welcome to the late Middle Ages. Welcome to Prussia, where Teutonic Order is one of the greatest Powers of the Baltic Sea region. Poland and Lithuania have united to fight back the Teutons. The decisive battle was fought on the fields laying between Tannenberg and Grunwald exactly 600 years ago (15.07.1410).
Teutons is a fast and easy to learn tactical wargame about medieval Polish, Lithuanian and Novogrod wars with Teutonic Order Knights. In Teutons, you can take one of the sides of the chosen battle and fight for victory! This game is fast paste but quite realistic in simulating the course of the battle and the possible options.
It is a card driven game, with historical leaders, cavalry charges and countercharges, infantry defending in fortified terrain, crossbow fire and bombardment, and much more. This game can be played with equal pleasure by two experienced players, as well as by e.g. a father and son.
The area of each battle is divided into large hexes, showing also the most important types of terrain.
Units are represented by wooden cubes, showing all the colours and splendor of Middle - Ages battlefields. There are also leaders' pawns, since units are activated for actions mostly by relevant leaders.
Cards have OPS value as well as some kind of order/command which can be given to the activated unit. There are battle commands (e.g. charge!) and non-battle commands (e.g. rallying).
There are 4 battles in the game, with many variants and scenarios:
- Battle of Lake Peipus (1242) - where Teutonic crusade met forces of Novogrod Republic,
- Battle of Płowce (1331) - first general battle Poles vs. Teutonic Order,
- Battle of Grunwald a.k.a. Tannenberg (1410) - one of the biggest battles of middle ages,
- Battle of Chojnice a.k.a. Konitz (1454) - where Polish knights met professional German mercenaries.
